Adam Gaworski, Junior Planner at FleishmanHillard Fishburn explains the thinking behind his team’s Creative Shootout entry – AKA ‘The Duvet’
In the last year there has been more media exposure, scrutiny and discussion of mental health than ever. Interestingly, the bulk of coverage centres on the stories of people who have ‘survived’ and/or ‘wish they had spoken sooner’. Rarely are we offered another side to the coin, such as Dazed’s beautiful eulogy to photographer Matt Irwin.
At first we were struck by the large number of young sufferers who felt their problem was so insurmountable and misunderstood that they had grown apathetic or resigned to it – to self-deprecating.
However through further social listening and focus groups, we found one greater constant: there are many types of mental health issue, and sides to the mental health discussion but everyone seeks some kind of security blanket: be it humour, information, other people, space, medical attention or indeed an actual blanket.
